Starting a business is never an easy option but more people are taking the plunge. Some are encouraged by reading about successful entrepreneurs and business leaders who started with nothing. But starting a business takes determination, a strong work ethic and support. Many teachers will be unfamiliar with how their pupils can get started and what help is available for them as they assess the market opportunities and what training they will need.

The job of entrepreneur is not for everyone. You need to be hard-working, smart, creative, willing to take risks and good with people. You need to have heart, have motivation and have drive. Entrepreneurs start new businesses and take on the risk and rewards of being their own boss. Some new ventures generate enormous wealth for the entrepreneur but others can simply fail to get off the ground.

In this section you will find lots of resources to support you as teacher or adviser working with students to help spark their ideas and enthusiasm to start off their own business.
