It is National Apprenticeship week, this nationwide event will run from 6th to the 10th February and is set to be the biggest to date. There are over 500 events across the country, taking place in schools, colleges and workplaces across England, at which young people and employers can find out more about local opportunities to benefit from an apprenticeship.

Nearly half of young people are missing out on career opportunities due to a lack of information from schools and universities, despite having the skills employers want, according to a new survey by CompTIA, the non-profit trade association for the information technology (IT) industry.

Today UCAS publishes its annual figures on the number of applicants for entry to full-time undergraduate higher education in 2012. These statistics include all applications considered on time for the 15 January equal-consideration deadline.
