Lynn Carroll is the Community Development and Education Officer for Nofitstate Circus. She has had her own business travelling Europe doing street shows. Learning and performing circus skills changed her from being a painfully shy sixteen year old into an adventurous, confident adult.

Kevin McIntosh is a Circus Performer with Nofitstate Circus, specialising in aerial, fire and stilt walking. He came to the UK from Jamaica. He hadn't realised that you could have a financially viable career using arts or creative skills. "I never understood that I would be getting paid for this. I just started to do it as fun, as escapism."

Anna Sandreuter is a travelling performer with Nofitstate Circus. She also teaches circus skills. To get here she had to cope with injuries, a touring company that went bust and a dad who tried to pressurise her into doing something "sensible".

Martha Mascard is a Community Circus Coordinator for Nofitstate Circus. She teaches circus skills. She was a trapeze artist herself until an injury put her out of action for a while. "If I was still a performer I wouldn't have had so much time to become a teacher and I really enjoy that."

Naomi Dines - Senior Lecturer

Naomi Dines is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and a practising Artist. She said her art teachers "made me think so hard it hurt". She was good at physics, maths and making things- so was set to follow her family into engineering, but instead she followed her passion. Now she combines these things as a sculpture.

Inge Van Lotringen is the Beauty Director on Cosmopolitan. Inge's story gives a lot of tips on getting into the media industry. She wanted to work in TV, "but it led to everything that came after." She says "if you work on things hard enough, you know, you go about it in a clever way and you push yourself, that you can make things happen."

Justine Southall is Publishing Director for Cosmopolitan magazine. "I had no idea that this job existed". She loves working in magazines and started by selling them. She thinks that all her experiences from working - in shops or as a waitress - were valuable preparation for her business career.

Kerry Hossack is a Supervisor in The Co-op cafe in Tweedmouth. "I got 11 GCSEs at school and I went on to do GNVQ business studies but I didn't, at that age I didn't know what I wanted to do... This was a little part time job for me to decide really what I wanted to do. But then I just loved the job so much and because it's, I've gone up as well, I decided just to stay."

Mark Burr is the Public Affairs Manager for The Audit Commission. He took a degree in politics and then became an intern for an MP for six months, so he moved to London from Leicestershire. He's been there ever since.

Yaver Abidi - Business Development Director

Yaver Abidi is the Group Business Development Director for Halcrow. "I've had a chance to contribute to improving the lives of very poor people, in very difficult places." He chose to be an engineer because of "having the pleasure of combining a kind of scientific approach with being outside". Today his job is convincing politicians about the need to do big engineering projects.
