Under-19s, and older apprentices in their first year of training, must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage Apprenticeship rate of £2.60 an hour from 1 October 2011. Other apprentices must be paid the normal National Minimum Wage for their age group. Many employers pay more than the minimum.
